Designed, installed and maintained to SANS standards — reliable protection for sensitive spaces.
GASEOUS SUPPRESSION SYSTEMS
Overview
Gaseous suppression systems provide fast, effective fire protection for environments where water or residue from traditional extinguishers would cause unacceptable damage — such as data centres, communications rooms, laboratories, archives and plant rooms. We design, install and maintain total-flood and local application gaseous systems that meet South African standards and international best practice.

Our Solutions
We offer engineered and pre-engineered systems selected to match the hazard, occupancy and infrastructure of your facility:
-
FM-200 / HFC-227ea (Clean Agent) — a fast-acting, residue-free clean agent suitable for occupied spaces and sensitive equipment. Ideal for server rooms, comms cabinets and control rooms where rapid extinguishment and minimal cleanup are essential.
-
Inergen / Inert Gas Systems — blends of nitrogen/argon that reduce oxygen to suppress fire while remaining safe for people at design concentrations; excellent where environmental or long-term agent stability is important.
-
CO₂ Suppression Systems — highly effective for certain industrial and machinery spaces (unoccupied at the time of discharge). CO₂ systems are powerful but require careful safety engineering and signage.
-
Watermist Systems — use high-pressure fine water spray to cool and suppress fires with far lower water use and collateral damage than traditional sprinkler systems; suitable for specialized manufacturing, heritage sites and areas with delicate equipment. (Aligned with water-mist design standards such as NFPA 750 / relevant local codes).
What we do — end-to-end services
-
Risk assessment & system selection
We survey the space, evaluate fuel loads and operational needs, then recommend the optimum agent and deployment (total-flood vs. local application). -
System design & approvals
Detailed engineering drawings, discharge calculations, control logic and documentation prepared to comply with SANS and applicable codes. We coordinate any required municipal or insurer approvals. -
Professional installation
Cylinder banks, piping, nozzles, detection and control panels installed by certified technicians using industry-approved components and techniques. -
Commissioning & room integrity testing
Commissioning includes concentration verification and a room integrity (door-fan) test to prove the enclosure will retain the agent long enough for suppression — a standard requirement for clean-agent systems. -
Planned maintenance & testing
Regular inspections, leak checks, function tests and hydrostatic testing/periodic inspections of cylinders and refillable vessels as required by South African standards (inspection and hydrostatic test intervals are specified in standards such as SANS 1825 and related guidance). We also provide safe, certified refilling of extinguishing agents. -
Refill & recovery services
Certified agent refilling and replacement, including environmentally responsible handling and disposal where required. -
Specialised systems
We design and install kitchen/cooker suppression systems and local application systems tailored to commercial kitchens, deep-fat fryers and food service equipment — systems that target the hazard while keeping business disruption to a minimum.
Compliance & safety
All system designs and service work are aligned with South African National Standards for gaseous suppression and recognized international practice. We prioritise safe human-interaction procedures, audible/visual warnings, safe access control during discharge, and documented maintenance records to meet insurer and regulatory expectations.
